Skipping Rocks Lab is seeking a business developer to manage existing commercial relationships, source new opportunities, and develop these into successful contracts. This person will help establish and put into action the plans through which we will grow the business. They will be organised and confident in their ability to convert leads into revenue generating contracts, as well as running commercial trials and getting involved in events activities. Given the early stage of the business there is the opportunity to work on multiple different potential products and routes to commercialisation. The Business developer will work closely with the CFO and co-CEO who currently execute the commercial activities of the company.


  • Manage and build existing commercial relationships
  • Establish a business development plan
  • Work with the CFO on strategic business model development
  • Generate and follow-up new leads
  • Manage sales process from beginning to end
  • Pitch to new and existing clients and convert leads into sales and revenues as a result
  • Plan and oversee product trials
  • Understand and switch easily between multiple different business propositions
  • Negotiating fees and payment terms


  • 2+ years of experience in commercial roles
  • Organised self-starter
  • Presentable and good at building rapport
  • Microsoft excel proficiency
  • Comfortable being part of an early-stage startup


  • Previous role in business development
  • Proven track record of sales success
  • Knowledge of lease agreements and sales contracts
  • CSR database skills
  • Previous experience in Startups
  • Adobe Creative Suit
  • Passion for sustainability and the environment!

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £25,000.00 to £40,000.00 /year
