The Role

We're looking for a data engineer* to help make data even more central to Everpress as we grow. This is an exciting role for data engineers looking to take ownership of data science, ELT pipelines, warehouses and everything else analytics in a fast growing marketplace and ecommerce business.

We’re early in our data journey, but we have many years of data - it’s an untapped goldmine! As our first data engineer, you’ll have the freedom to select the tools and services you need to do the job. But at first you can expect to work with dbt, airflow, AWS RDS + Redshift and Metabase.

What you'll be doing

• Work on the whole data workflow, from data quality with engineering in our applications to monitoring your pipelines and ensuring quality outputs with business owners.

• Use dbt to build well tested, modelled and documented denormalised data sets that will enable business users and other analysts to get the answers they need.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure source data modelling meets requirements and is well integrated into the data pipelines. You’ll also use your data visualisation skills to work on the presentation of data to everpress.com users as part of the product roadmap

• Be the business-wide point of contact for access to data that every team needs to make Everpress a success – by both building reports and visualisations and training business users to build their own and making BI accessible to all

• Mentor junior data analysts, helping them drive their own development while ensuring best practices and understanding

Requirements

• Excellent SQL skills

• Understanding of data warehousing, data modelling and experience structuring new data tables

• Working knowledge of cloud based data warehousing (e.g. RDS, BigQuery, Redshift)

• Experience managing the administration and/or adoption of a data visualisation tool (e.g. Metabase, Periscope, Superset, Looker)

Nice to haves

• Python coding skills, particularly in the areas of automation & integrations

• Good practical understanding of version control

• Experience using SQL for ELT pipelines and experience with DAGs to manage dependencies

Sustainability (People and Planet)

• Get involved in various projects to ensure Finance, and the wider business, achieves B corp accreditation, and make sure we are challenging ourselves to go above and beyond
