Technical skills

We're hoping to find an experienced frontend developer who has a good sense of UI/UX design and is familiar with Bootstrap (v4) and plain old JavaScript. Some familiarity with Django would be a bonus, but certainly not essential. A senior Django developer has been involved in the project for the last 2 years and they are able to assist on the frontend as needed.

The job

We've been working with a UI/UX developed several years ago and it's served us well, however, as we've evolved the platform and expanded its feature set, we've reached a point where we've outgrown it. As a result, we're keen to find a dedicated front-end developer to assist with improving the platform's overall UI to better suit our evolving platform

We typically work asynchronously which allows for maximal flexibility, but we hop on chat as needed for quick back and forth over specific issues if needed.

The platform

A quiz platform for medical students, doctors, paramedics, nurses (geekyquiz.com) which has a freemium model (feel free to register and take a look around). The platform itself is growing quickly, with tens of thousands of registered users from all over the world.

The stack

Frontend: Bootstrap (v4) and JavaScript

Backend: Django, Postgres

Hours & pay

We're hoping to find someone able to commit 10-20 hours a month to begin with, with the possibility of expanding this later if it suited both parties.

Pay would be on an agreed hourly basis and the work itself would be fully remote and async.

Communication skills

Excellent communication skills are essential in the context of remote asynchronous work.

The ideal developer would be a native English speaker.

Other stuff

I work as a junior doctor 3 days a week, with the rest of the time focused on this platform. I've been working on this as a side project for 10 years and it's gained a lot of momentum over that time. I'm technically literate, meaning we can easily have sensible discussions regarding the details of implementation, although my front-end skills leave quite a bit to be desired so don't worry, I'll stay out of your way (promise).

If this sounds interesting to you, make sure to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you. 🙂
