It takes 5 months to complete a property purchase and more than 1 in 3 fail. Settled is building a 'digital checkout' that allows buyers and sellers to complete transactions online directly from the listing. Each cause of fallthrough; from buyer commitment, to conveyancing, to the mortgage, are addressed in one integrated product. Meaning we complete over 95% of transactions in less than 30 days, completely digitally. We call it Tap-to-Buy property.

Settled is venture capital backed by firms including 500.co, Piton Capital, Accelerated Digital Ventures and Connect Ventures. We’re a small team of problem-solvers and creative thinkers passionate about making a real difference.

We’re looking for an engineer that is excited about building user-focused products. We want you to enjoy collaborating in the entire product lifecycle, including design, development, testing, release and maintenance.

In your day-to-day, you will

  • Write and review performant, maintainable, testable, accessible, and elegant code, both on the backend and frontend

  • Help design entirely new products, figuring out what exactly we need to build (you won’t just be churning through tickets in a backlog!)

  • Brainstorm hard problems and prototype different ideas

  • Work toward constantly improving the quality of the product

  • Take initiative to challenge and improve your own skills as an engineer

Our technologies include

  • Node.js for the back-end

  • Vue.js (version 3) for the front-end

  • Firebase (specifically Firestore, Authentication and Functions) for our database

  • Google Cloud Platform (specifically Cloud Run) for hosting

  • GitLab, Docker, Storybook, TestCafe for everything else

You should apply if

  • You have 2+ years of experience in full-stack development in a high-growth tech startup or leading global tech company

  • You have experience building web products and services, and have an awareness of technologies across the stack

  • You have a product mindset - you care about customer outcomes and you want to make data-informed decisions

  • You care about building reliable, well-tested systems

  • You have experience in building, debugging and maintaining event-driven systems

  • You’re able to build web views that are responsive, consistent and accessible

  • You’re self-motivated and have strong organisational skills

  • You have an entrepreneurial, get-things-done attitude

Don’t worry if you don’t meet everything on this list! If you’re passionate about what you do and this role sounds exciting to you, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll get

  • Competitive salary

  • Additional EMI-qualifying share options in Settled

  • 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays

  • Choice between Macbook or PC

  • Access to perks at work

  • Generous parental leave

  • Pension scheme

We’re currently fully remote (for obvious reasons!). Once things are back to normal, we’ll continue to be flexible between remote and in-office work. You don’t need to be based in London, but it would be great if you could travel to London occasionally for planned days and team bonding.

All our interviews are currently conducted over Hangouts.
