Fast-growing digital studio Mighty Sharp are looking for a Head of Operations and Delivery who will play a key role in leading the agency to the next level. 

The role

We’re looking for someone to keep the ship running smoothly and support us to steer it in the right direction. And preferably you'll like otters.

We need someone who will enable the team to continue to deliver excellent work, and make Mighty Sharp even better than it is now. You could call the role the ’unsung hero’, but it’d be unfair, and untrue. This role will have a massive impact on Mighty Sharp’s success, of that we have no doubt.

  • Overall, you’ll be monitoring delivery performance, and managing incremental improvements (including delivery process, customer experience and all-round team happiness).

  • You’ll facilitate the internal Scrum and explore ways to encourage the team to be ready and willing (almost) every time.

  • You’ll be running all project Scrums (we currently run a maximum of 4 projects at once) and helping clients to understand them, and love them as much as we do.

  • You’ll plan and book resource, and feed into company structure and hiring decisions.

  • You’ll create and manage budgets, and understand the vital impact that changes to these will have.

  • You’ll manage the invoicing process in partnership with our General Manager, and there’ll be the opportunity to get more deeply involved in company finances if you want to.

  • A salary in the region of £40,000, dependent on experience

Who are you?

We welcome applications from people with a variety of backgrounds, skills and experiences. But in an ideal world, here’s the boxes we’d like you to tick:

  • Experience of setting up and/or running delivery systems (e.g. for finance, resource, or standardising delivery methodology).

  • Experience in digital project management, ideally in an Agile environment.

  • Experience of (or exposure to) setting up habits within companies (i.e. helping to build culture).

  • Emotional intelligence, great communication skills, and a good dose of ‘oomph’.

  • You’ll have a good grasp of, and passion for numbers, Excel and other tools that will help us to collect and understand data

  • Overall, a willingness and desire to try new things and make things better will be almost second nature to you. You’ll want to explore, to wonder to challenge. Ultimately, we’d rather that you begged for forgiveness than for permission.

We’ve moved on from design and build projects – where we’ve had great success with the likes of YouGov and BAFTA – to long-term partnerships, making a meaningful impact on organisations over a period of months and years. We’d much rather really get to know and understand people than have a one night stand.

Through these partnerships we offer wide-ranging digital advice at a senior level, re-build foundations if necessary, and follow through with the delivery and continued development of complex digital platforms.

We really, really, really care about what we do. We’re a tight-knit team that gives it’s all to make our service and end-products better. We never settle for ‘OK’, we regularly take on big challenges, and we set high expectations for the work we produce. But we also understand that people are ‘only human’, and that the odd bad day is OK too.

But work-life balance is very important to us. We consistently keep to a (hard-working) 8-hour day, but there’s the rare occasion where we need to stay late. If this happens we will always, always make it up to you.

We have regular lunches together, game nights, attend talks, pub trips, go dancing and the odd evening of karaoke where embarrassing yourself is (almost) compulsory.
