GetAgent, the UK’s leading estate agent comparison site, is a rapidly growing prop-tech startup. Proud partners of Which?, our aim is to provide a transparent and data-driven way for homeowners to choose the best agent to sell their most valuable asset.
We ingest millions of property listings each year to create an objective measure of estate agent performance. Using our unique data, homesellers sell quicker and for more money. And we’re on a mission to make homeselling even easier in the future through the roll-out of our Home Moving Platform and re-design of the site.
In addition to the public facing site, we’ve built a custom CRM (React, NodeJS) which powers the business and most of the team use all day, every day. The system has integrations with telephony providers, payments systems and accountancy software. We’re always looking for ways to make the business more efficient through tech enhancements (and your ideas are actively encouraged).
All this was built with a small but driven tech team of the CTO, 2 developers and a designer.
In 2019 we grew 3x and - until coronavirus hit - we planned to do the same in 2020!

What you’ll do
As we expand into new products and with more and more home sellers using the GetAgent platform, we are looking for an intelligent and talented Lead Developer to support our growth.
As a pivotal member of the Tech Team, you’ll mentor and develop junior developers and review work. The majority of your day will be working on improving and adding new features to our existing products. As we venture into new products you’ll have the opportunity to dive in however you see fit and lead the process from idea generation and goal setting all the way to measuring the impact of your work.
What we need from you:
Intelligence – You don’t have to be Einstein, but we’re looking for someone with the ability to successfully assess a situation and problem solve.
Passion for tech - We’re looking for someone who enjoys learning new technologies and would probably be coding in their spare time if they weren’t being paid for it.
Personality - We’re looking for someone who has the innate ability to spark and maintain meaningful conversations with your colleagues.
5+ years professional coding experience
2+ years recent professional React experience
Front-end technical skills (CSS, SASS/SCSS) and a pixel perfect eye for detail turning design into code
Great back-end experience (ideally Node JS, but PHP/Ruby/Python ok too)
Good knowledge of SQL databases
Experience managing and mentoring small teams of developers
Project management experience - speccing out ideas, working with stakeholders, converting into dev workflow
Nice to have but not essential:
Experience working in a Start-Up
Worked on a consumer-facing product
Interest in property market
Node JS experience
Worked with some of our stack - Koa, Bookshelf, Knex, Twig, jQuery, React, Bootstrap
Experience working with APIs (bonus points for Twilio, Plivo and/or Stripe)
