We’re looking for a skilled designer to join our team and take Encore’s product and brand to the next level. You’ll have full ownership over the visuals of the entire company, covering everything from our web platform and mobile apps through to emails and marketing campaigns.

We’ve built a product that is loved by customers: over 1,000 people use Encore every week to look for musicians for their event. As we enter an exciting scale-up phase and explore international opportunities over the next few years, we’re looking for a Senior Designer to get us there faster by crafting a delightful product experience that our customers will rave to their friends about. You’ll be part of the team that takes the company from 7,000 annual bookings to 70,000.

Product Design

The majority of your work will involve researching, prototyping, designing, and obtaining user feedback on the UI and UX of our web and mobile products.

As a company we aim to take an experimental approach to our work, and will often have multiple different experiments running in parallel with our customers and musicians. Our scale means we can gain meaningful experiment results in a short space of time, which enables us to iterate quickly and make progress at an exciting pace. Your designs will be seen and used by thousands of people every week, and by working with us, you’ll help millions of people have the best musical experiences of their lives.

Product Stack and Team

Our small and nimble product team works in flexible weekly sprints which fit inside the company’s quarterly objective plans. We currently work with a variety of collaborative tools including Figma, Jira and Invision Freehand, with past design and product work easily accessible and well documented. The product team holds quickfire daily standups to keep everyone in the loop and in touch even when we’re working remotely.

Beyond UI & UX, we’re also looking for someone with a keen eye for brand design. Although we’ve established a strong foothold in our industry, the Encore brand is still in its infancy, and we want you to lead us as we take it in exciting, bold new directions whilst remaining true to our identity as a company. In this role you’ll help us to build towards becoming an iconic brand which is loved by customers and musicians alike.

User Research

Ideally, you’ll have experience carrying out User Research, and you’re the sort of person who gets a kick out of hunting down meaningful product feedback! We are also looking to add a Product Manager to the team in the near future, and this is someone you would work closely with in order to truly understand our customers and musicians’ needs.

Occasional you may work alongside our marketing team to design marketing campaigns and sales materials. Although the vast majority of this output is digital, we sometimes work with print when attending trade shows & conferences.

If you’re looking for a varied and flexible role where you’ll work on a wide range of projects and see your ideas directly impact the lives of thousands of people, this is the job for you.

All of your work will have a substantial impact on the growth and direction of the business, and within our small team you’ll have direct input into decision making. A strong sense of ownership and infectious drive to succeed are a must.

Who will you work with?

You’ll join our Product Team, led by Co-Founder & CTO James King, who will be your manager. You’ll work closely with our expert Lead Developer as you craft our product together, and will also work with our sales and support teams to gain valuable user insights and plan new experiments.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working on design with a software-based product company
  • A broad set of design skills, from UX and online interaction design to print media and aesthetics
  • Proven track record of producing highly professional design assets
  • Ability to test and optimise designs in response to user behaviour
  • Great overall communication skills and good writing ability
  • Comfortable working in a small team
