We're looking for a senior Ruby developer to lead our small, high-performing dev team.
We're a boutique financial consultancy based in New York. We offer "equity management" and valuation services to clients throughout the U.S. and U.K., and we've built an innovative web-based platform that changes the game in our industry. We have a small dev team with people based in Austin and India. Our dev team does standups weekly, code reviews daily, and looks for ways to improve constantly.
You have at least 5 years of serious web development experience, and you've been a productive member of a successful dev team before. You're a thoughtful, effective communicator who could lead a small team. As a leader, you're deeply considerate of your work - before you execute anything, you consider how it fits the business goals, and whether it's the best way to proceed. You feel comfortable recommending improvements and alternatives. You know how to handle responsibility. You're confident you can hit the ground running.

About the Position
We have built an integrated B2B product that has just launched in market — your job will be to help us take it to the next level as it grows. This position has both high autonomy and high responsibility - the company's executive leadership has a clear vision to execute, but it will be up to you to drive the execution. That's why we need someone who's confident, friendly, well-reasoned, and internally motivated.
You would be responsible for understanding the business domain, becoming familiar with the architecture of the Rails app, understanding and clarifying the specs provided by the business, reviewing bug reports, ticketing issues in GitHub, performing code reviews, executing some high-complexity code yourself, and generally guiding the team.
Our current team lead has been with us for nearly 2 years. He has recently decided to start a company that he wants to focus on full-time. You would work directly with him to take the reins on this project, and he will remain accessible to us if we have questions in the future.
This position is 100% remote (unless you'd like to work from our New York office). We offer compensation based on experience, some very cool engineering challenges, and a smart team that's great to work with.
