Easol is the first of its kind all-in-one ‘experience commerce’ platform built to support experience businesses globally, across all sectors including festivals, wellness retreats, food and drink, sports and adventure trips. With Easol, experience businesses have complete control to drive more direct sales, retain more revenue, own their data and run their business on their terms.
The platform was founded by former festival founders, Lisa and Ben Simpson in 2017, after the husband and wife team endured challenges and frustrations first hand while setting up and growing their own experience business including Rise - Europe’s leading snowsports and music festival and Beyond Adventures - a series of adventure travel experiences in remote locations such as the Sahara desert and the Swedish Archipelago.
In just three years, the company has acquired an impressive customer base, with major industry players including Ibiza Rocks, Global Cycle Network, The Sunday Times, and Envision Festival now using Easol to manage and grow their experience business. The company has raised an impressive $4.5 Million, led by Notion Capital with participation from Y Combinator, Foundation Capital, Slow Ventures and Micheal Zeisser - former Chairman of US investments at Alibaba. Easol's mission is to be the first experience commerce platform that puts the technology, the ownership and the possibilities in the hands of the experience creator.
Engineering at Easol
The technical challenges of building our application goes from simplifying how products can be modelled to improving the speed by which our site builder renders our customer's websites. We're looking for engineers who love to be self-directed, with great communication abilities, love problem solving, as well as exemplary experience in growing applications (bonus if you love Ruby-on-Rails).

We're currently an engineering team of seven, so we're still at that stage where you can know all of what's going on, but also that stage where things are starting to speed up. We're currently homeless, but are headquartered in London, and expect to be back in the office in the summer.
What the job involves
Our days start with a stand-up, and we work on a planned week of work. Engineers are expected to work on specifying and discussing ideas, as well as implementing and testing them. We often work in small sub-teams on projects, this often involves pairing with other engineers on solutions. Each engineer works with our customer success teams on rotation, meaning you get front-line exposure to the issues our team, and our creators have managing their business. We plan weekly, and ship when a feature is ready, usually after it's been shared with the rest of the team.
To build features we use Ruby-on-Rails, Heroku, React (but aim to remove a lot of it), and RSpec to drive and document our design.
