Local Welcome are designing technology to make it fun and easy for communities to cook and eat together. In a divided world, we help people to connect and share their stories. We want to test, refine and share our patterns and rituals across the world and believe that digital technology can play a key role in making this happen.

Right now we’re using a combination of existing products and services from SquareSpace to Typeform to WhatsApp and we are looking for a Technical Lead to join us to experiment, iterate, own and create a platform to organise communities in the future.

Ideally, you’ll be an experienced senior full stack developer with an interest and background in running experiments to explore hypotheses, setting up custom analytics to report on key metrics, and building web apps and secure databases. You’re excited to join a small ambitious team working on things that matter. You want to own the tech, learn and create - mostly as the sole technical person for the first year, but with the possibility of leading other developers later if we’re successful. You’re curious, share our values and enjoy moving fast, coding up quick prototypes and unattached to specific solutions. You value data security and quality design and enjoy the challenges of scaling.

Closing date for applications is midnight on Monday 17 December 2018.

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Is confident in their technical instincts and can prioritise and build quickly, while balancing this with security requirements and avoiding debt dead-ends once we start building the platform.

  • Has at least 5 years of technical experience, which includes: building full stack web applications and secure databases, integrating with existing services and products, running data-driven experiments to explore hypotheses, setting up analytics around key metrics, and visualising graphs/insights from data. We are language(s) agnostic.

  • Has proven experience of leading on technical direction and strategy, explaining dependencies and trade-offs simply and clearly, and working with the founder and product lead to set overall direction.

  • Enjoys collaborating with a talented passionate energetic team.

  • Is excited about the prospect of a greenfield codebase and the freedom to experiment, iterate, combine and scale a product.

  • Is comfortable working in a fluid manner as part of a multidisciplinary team, not dependent on specific methodologies.

Sounds like you or someone you know?

Please get in touch with Irina Bolychevsky on [email protected] to apply and learn more. We’d love a CV and a cover letter highlighting relevant impact and delivered projects as well as what interests you about this role and your preferred ways of working.

We especially encourage applications from women and people of diverse backgrounds. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss the role or send through any questions.
