Are you a natural host and fixer who loves to make people feel well looked after all the time? Does the idea of being the face of a busy co-working space, even when things go wrong, appeal to you? Would you describe yourself as super-organised and willing to get your hands dirty? Do you want to join a diverse company where anyone can make any decision from day 1? Then read on!
Treehouse is a workspace created by GrantTree a year ago. It’s a unique building where we want all our tenants to feel at home and BYOP (Bring Your Own Personality). What makes us happy here is the little things: from making beautiful coffee in the morning to gathering in our cafe space to watch a movie in the evenings.
As our Facilities and Community Manager, you will make sure that Treehouse functions perfectly. By fixing problems before anyone is affected, and by looking after the little things, you will enjoy being one of the stars of our working community.
A typical day
You will spend lots of time dealing with people, but there are also a lot of un-glamorous tasks to be done. Here are some things that will be involved:
Making sure all equipment in the building is working and people know how to use it
Trouble-shooting any building problems, like blocked loos or dodgy doors
Liaising with regular suppliers and maintenance folks
Making sure things are in the right places like food and drink stocks, incoming post, towels and soap
Working with the FD to prepare invoices and pay suppliers
But we don’t just want you to cover these essentials. A successful workspace is more than just a building, it’s a community. We want your creativity to shine through in bringing people together.
You have at least one year’s experience in a relevant role (ideally in a managed office space)
You have shown you can build relationships and handle difficult situations
You are comfortable working independently - you will be an important link between all the companies in Treehouse, but will be a “team of one” and need to organise all your work for yourself
If you have office space sales and marketing experience, that’s a welcome bonus
GrantTree was founded 6 years ago and employs 27 people. We want an environment where everyone has the freedom, power and trust to do great work. We call this open culture. It’s been successful for us so far, although it's not for everyone (we encourage you to check out our GlassDoor reviews).
We believe that people should be rewarded fairly for the work they do. At GrantTree there is transparency over salaries and the way we work them out. For this role, this is likely to lie between £25k and £30k. We also have an annual profit sharing scheme for the whole team.
Aside from money, we offer a great environment where you can be yourself. We believe in helping you develop your skills and fulfil your potential. We have a flexible approach to working, and some of our staff work remotely most of the time. You can also take up to 6 weeks as holiday.
Teams are stronger when they have a diverse range of people. Applications are welcomed from everyone, regardless of the categories they fit into. We also encourage talented ‘square pegs’, who don’t neatly fit into the person specification, to apply.
Salary range £25,000 — 30,000
