The Candidate and Responsibilities

The main aspect of this role is to be responsible for a new in-house day to day finance function at the company and reporting directly to CFO. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Books and records:

  • Treasury, credit control and payments, foreign exchange management
  • Maintenance of nominal, sales and purchase ledgers
  • Maintenance of inventory and fixed asset records and purchase ordering system
  • Maintenance of payroll records
  • Maintenance of inter-company account
  • Maintenance of contracts

Reporting:

  • Monthly consolidated management accounts containing profit and loss, cash flows and balance sheets on an accruals basis for parent and overseas subsidiaries
  • PAYE, VAT, corporate tax reporting to HMRC
  • Maintain weekly cashflow report
  • Liaise with accountants/auditors in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts and tax computations
  • Liaise with external accountants (UK and overseas), lawyers, professional advisors, HMRC, bankers and suppliers
  • Various office administration tasks
  • Identify opportunity to establish/streamline/improve internal control process and provide recommendations

Requirements:

  • Experience as a part qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Hands-on and team player
  • Self-starter to implement financial processes and controls and build a new in-house finance function in a start-up environment
  • Excellent accounting software knowledge and work experience in QuickBooks
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Docs
  • Responsibility for dealing with confidential information
  • Exceptional attention to detail and willingness to help
  • Experience in the technology sector or manufacturing would be useful particularly in consumer electronics
  • Professional, reliable and friendly manner
  • Proactive and self-motivated with excellent system skills

Salary range £30,000 — 35,000
