About the job

At Cosmos, we are trying to recreate the experience of working in an office for remote teams. Cosmos is a virtual world where companies can host an online office which combines a multiplayer game and video chat. We believe offices are great, but you don’t need to commute to a real world office to work together.

Front End engineers are responsible for taking a beautiful design from the product team, filling in gaps with their own intuitions, and bringing it to life. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about improving user experience and performance of the website, product flows, main product, map maker, CMS and everything else.


What you will do

  • Work with PMs, designers and engineers to decide what to build, scope and then build it

  • Improve product flows and main product experience

  • Build/improve the avatar creator and map making tool

  • Write maintainable, clear, well-architected code, tests, and documentation

  • Participate in code and design reviews to ensure quality and good architecture


What you will bring

As engineers ourselves, we know how hard it is to quantify knowledge with degrees and years, so there are no strict requirements. Ideal candidate will have:

  • Worked as a full stack developer or a frontend engineer
  • Intuition for well designed software and beautiful, usable interfaces
  • Experience building websites or applications with JavaScript, React and Python/Node.js
  • Motivation and the drive to solve difficult problems without guidance
  • Ability to ruthlessly prioritise in a chaotic and ambiguous environment
  • Grit to thrive in a small team with loads of autonomy
