Job Description
We’re looking for a mid-level full-stack developer to join our growing team to build and improve upon existing products that are used by UK-based public sector organisations as we scale our product offering and organisation. We build our software using tools that we know and trust: Vue on the frontend, and PHP/Laravel-based on the backend with a MySQL database, all hosted using AWS. Expertise in at least some of these areas is a big positive, but familiarity with other similar web languages or frameworks is all that’s required.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work closely with the product team to shape new functionality and be responsible for its development
You’ll explore ways to improve the performance and reliability of our systems and ways to make the underlying code better in general
You’ll assist our operations team in fixing bugs and responding to technical issues our clients may be facing
You’ll learn about and use new web technologies
You’ll work with a small, tight-knit team where everyone’s opinions are listened to as we continually seek to improve what we’ve built and how we build it
What you should have
3+ years experience of writing web applications
An appreciation for good UX and design
A positive attitude, self-motivation and the ability to work in a clear, systematic way
An analytical but pragmatic approach to problem-solving
Empathy for users and for those you’re working with
Sound decision making and clear verbal and written communication skills
What we offer
A fun, friendly and ambitious team, with a variety of backgrounds and experiences
25 days holiday per annum
Competitive share options scheme
An active (currently virtual!) social calendar
Whatever hardware or software (within reason!) you need to be productive
Company Description
Alvius’s mission is to radically improve the way that the public sector finds people to work for their organisations. This could be teachers for a primary school, social workers for a local council or key workers for a charity. We’re disrupting a market that’s dominated by legacy software, however we’re already being used by public sector bodies across the country and have been appointed onto several national government frameworks. We’re well backed by private investors as well as the UK government itself, and have an ambitious growth plan.
Salary range £40,000 — 60,000
