Head of Engineering - £90k-120k / equity available / partial remote available

Shape the future of the technology and people working behind distributed personal data accounts! As our first Head of Engineering, your mission will be to build a high-profile, high-impact technology products and an attractive engineering culture together with our CTO. In close collaboration with the technical and product teams, you will define and architect our technical stack, write and review testable high quality code, shape our cross-functional development projects, ensure alignment across all tech-related projects and help shape our offering.
Your role in detail:
Leading and aligning our engineering projects
Scaling up the teams and operations through hiring and people development and supporting timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs
Providing your teams with the best possible environment and selecting the optimum technical solutions for building and optimizing the technology stack
Advocating and advancing modern, agile software development practices and helping develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices
Evaluating outsourcing opportunities and strategy
Growing a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values
Managing goals and expectations and creating a comprehensive and relevant OKR structure
What we definitely need:
A University degree in Computer Science or a related field (exceptions possible)
5+ years’ experience in software engineering
2+ years’ experience in leading, managing and coaching cross-functional teams
A solid experience working in an agile development environment
Proven experience in designing and implementing services on the cloud
Polyglot and full-stack understanding of technology
Passion for a clean and appropriately tested code
Strong analytical and critical thinking
Comfortable with uncertainty or ambiguity
Willingness and experience with both strategic and more detailed tasks
Extra bonus points for:
Hybrid cloud architecture experience
Previous experience with Scala or other functional programming languages
Familiarity with enterprise systems in a large corporation setting
