Biochar Project Manager at The Future Forest Company
Based on the Isle of Mull with accommodation provided. Initial 6 month project with full time potential.
The Future Forest Company
Our mission is to reverse climate change by pioneering a commercially scalable and profitable model for reforesting and restoring degraded land in the UK. These future forests will sequester large amounts of CO2, and are funded through selling carbon offsets and commercial tree sponsorship products. Profitable forests mean that we can scale up, buy more land and plant millions of trees, and operate at a size which significantly impacts the health of our planet.
About the role
We are setting up a biochar production plant on our land in the Isle of Mull, using local forest waste as the feedstock. The long-term goal is to get to creating a modular system that can continuously produce biochar, which can be deployed on site in a forest rather than having to transport the waste. This first phase is focused on demonstrating that we can set up a processing plant, produce biochar continuously rather than in batches, then spread it throughout our forests. We have recently been awarded a grant which has a start date of the 1st of November, so we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
The project manager will work directly with the CEO & COO, and will manage a team of labourers to deliver the project.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with 2+ years in a practical/engineering project management background. Can be from a variety of backgrounds - engineering, forestry, energy, etc. No knowledge or prior experience with biochar required.
You must have:
Experience setting up and commissioning equipment
Experience managing a team
